InsomniaThere is something behind the darkness. Something that used to screame and shake its fists. Something that lit bonfires and fireworks behind my eyes on cold nights.

There are a pair of pale eyes, folding like fans at the corners and a mouth so full of words that they dribble down my chin. And a feeling at the tips of my fingers that I can’t name anymore. The scraps of what might be a red scarf on the floor and the sound of someone crying.

And under it all is a deep, persistent throbbing; a pound-pound-pound that keeps going, on and on, back into the dark. I can feel it now and it won’t let me s Insomnia

Two PensI write this with a fountain pen; the first time I ever have. The ink shines like new leaves. It rushes out of the nib like blood. The pen is heavy in my hand. It rest between my thumb and index finger like a weary child rests their head on a parent’s shoulder; head heavy with the day’s thoughts and memories.

The pen makes me think of days when the world was in love. When men bowed to women and everyone spoke poetry. It makes me think of sword fights and pistol duels. It makes me think of forbidden love letters written in candle light. The pen gives me all this; the thoughts and metaphors and elegant handwriting. I lov Two Pens

Prose TrioTurn
Click, click, click. The car wants me to turn. But I can’t I’m on a dusty road to somewhere…or nowhere. I’m not sure which. Behind me is a smoky city where the people wear masks. I don’t want to go back to the suffocating fumes where nothing is quite real. When I get to where ever I’m going, I will have a pair of angel wings tattooed on my back, right between my shoulder blades. They will be small, my secret. They will remind me that I can fly where ever I choose.

No I have not died.

I was not murdered in some seedy Japanese ally.

I was simply lazy, uninspired and then was engulfed by a wave of assessment.

But freedom is near. It is pawing the door, mewing to be let in. And the cat-flap is being installed in a week. Then it shall slink in and drop a bundel of everlasting days at my feet. A whole two months worth. I can bearly wait.

There is also that bitter-sweetness that comes at the end of every year. All those days and weeks, wriggling inside your heart. In a few weeks they will just be another year.

Now, about those stories that were helf-heartedly promised before I left for Japan...

Yeah, I didn't write them. JAPAN WAS TOO COOL, OKAY!

I'm so going back.

I was about to upload so tonight, but when I was typing them in I realised that they needed serious polishing.
